June 23rd-29th: Romans 12:3-5

This week, our prayer network continues praying through Romans 12.

If you are praying with us more than one time this week, the repetition of staying in the same few verses each day is not accidental. We pray the same small passage throughout the week to meditate on and savor these words, and have greater understanding that leads to more faith-filled prayers.

Romans 12:3-5
(2Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is — His good, pleasing, and perfect will.) 3For by the grace given me I say to every one of you: Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought, but rather think of yourself with sober judgment, in accordance with the faith God has distributed to each of you. For just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function, so in Christ we, though many, form one body, and each member belongs to all the others.

Thanksgiving: You can use these statements as starting points to thank God for specific things that come to mind as you read the passage.
Thank you Lord for revealing your will to us! Thank you for making yourself known to us. Thank you for the ways I have been led to walk in your paths and discern your will, and for the ways I have seen you at work this very week. (Name some specific ways!) Thank you for modeling humility for us, rather than hierarchy. Thank you that you lift up the humble and bring low the great. We are thankful for the diversity in the body, and unity in the body of Christ. (Thank God for the specific gifts you don’t have that you see in the community around you).

Worship: You can use these statements as starting points to worship God’s character as revealed in this passage. Name places & people in North Africa as you declare who Jesus is.
Lord, you are the original definition of Grace. Your ways, acts, and words to us are full of grace. By your grace, we are healed. In your grace, you created each person in North Africa and your grace is free for each of them because of your sacrifice. You are the one who first thought of diversity among unity, as you are Trinity in yourself. You created things like lights in the dark sky and shade on bright days. (Name other characteristics and acts of God that come to mind).

Intercession: Intercede as you are led! Here’s an example of one country’s need.

Lord, please help Your body in Egypt recognize the gifts of each of the different members. May the leadership of different denominations, from Coptics to Pentacostalists, see each other has members that belong to one another. On a smaller level, please be among those churches that are experiencing division or infighting now. Let each one humble themselves and seek to be submitted to Christ first.

If any words of encouragement, ideas, or pictures came to mind, send them on to someone you know who lives in North Africa!

Praying as a group?

Leading others in prayer is a great step in making disciples. We want to celebrate your and their faithfulness. For each person that prays with you, we will add 15 minutes to the 5.9 days of prayer committed so far.

How many prayed today (including yourself)?
